IAC ELECTIONS ARE COMING!

Hi All!

While our fabulous board has done a wonderful job this year it is time to say goodbye and welcome a new board for next fall!

This is how it is going to work: There are thee elected positions and 3 appointed positions available, with their bios posted below. The nomination period will take place from now until March 25th. Voting will then take place ONLINE (via online poll) from the 26th to the 30st. Our new board will be a...nnounced at the Hillel Shabbat Gala on April 1st. If interested in any positions please email your bio, platform, and recent photo to zanecolt@gmail.com.

Anyone who is a current member of the IAC facebook group is eligible to vote.

The available positions are:

City-Wide IAC President Responsibilities

• Responsible for effective communication of the Executive Board
• Responsible for attending , booking and creating all agendas for all city-wide meetings
• Responsible for building a strong rapport amongst the Executives and the Chair person boards
• Act as liaison between Hillel Ottawa and the Israel Awareness Committee Executive and attend most Hillel Board meetings
• Must attend adult lay board meetings
• Make all deicisions in consultation with the IAC board
• Responsible for community relations and outreach
• Maintain weekly communication with Carleton and Ottawa University presidents
• Make it a priority to reach out to other campus clubs and build coalitions across both campuses
• Responsible Rosh (lead) a minimum of three events per year including a weekend training session, pre-IAW training session and the Hillel retreat
• Focus on student engagement in the community
• Responsibe for effective communication with all other jewish groups such as Hillel, Chabad, JET and AEPi

***Must have served as a full member of the 2010-2011 Executive Board***


Carleton IAC President Responsibilities

• Communicate effectively with the City-Wide President of Ottawa University
• Engage in effective communication with the Hillel President at Carleton University
• Create and maintain contact with the broader Carleton Community (Conservatives, Liberals, NPSIA, faculty societies and etc.)
• Engage in positive relationships with other clubs on campus
• Make recruitment the top priority throughout the year
• Make sure there is a sign/mailing list at every event and engage signed up members after the events
• Facilitate coalition building on campus through co-sponsored cultural, social and political events
• Build effective relations with the Carleton administration
• Responsible for attending all IAC City-Wide meetings

Ottawa U IAC President Responsibilities

• Communicate effectively with the City-Wide President of Carleton University
• Engage in effective communication with the Hillel President at Ottawa Univeristy

Announcing: Ottawa Israel Scholars!

The IAC and JET are very excited to announce the launch of our new semester-long program, "Ottawa Israel Scholars". OIS offers a 10-week comprehensive look at Israeli history, culture, politics and current events, as well as teaching the tools to advocate for Israel and peace in the Middle East.
